   IntelliMerchant is the name of the software system which powers IntelliCatalog, Inc.'s services.  This page is a description of some of the software's features; particularly ones which relate to the benefits received by retailers using the system.

  Your merchandise is available for sale 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to customers everywhere in the world.
  You can reach customers which were previously geographically inaccessible due to cost considerations.
  Customers browsing through your online catalog can buy on impulse.
You can create an unlimited number of product categories and assign a product to one or more categories.
  The product categories are displayed in the shopper's menu.  When a category is selected by a shopper all products within that category are displayed to them.

Convenient customer browser bookmark facility.
  Web sites created with advanced technology such as that used by IntelliMerchant are generally not successfully 'bookmarked'.  Recognizing the drawbacks of this, the authors of the software created a special link which your customers can bookmark in order to bring them back to your catalog.  The presence of this link on the shoppers page serves to gently remind/prod the customer to bookmark your catalog.
Using IntelliMerchant's optional inventory module your customers won't have to call to check on the availability of products.
  IntelliMerchant's inventory feature permits your customers to find out before they place an order whether or not it can be filled immediately.  In the case of unavailable products this allows the customer to make an alternate purchase.  This saves both you and the customer time and aggravation in dealing with out-of-stock conditions.
  IntelliMerchant will decrement inventory counts as orders are placed preventing you from over-committing products.  If you reject an order the inventory counts are automatically incremented.  Similarly, adjustments to orders are automatically reflected in the inventory counts.
  When a product reaches your pre-set inventory level IntelliMerchant will email you that it is time to restock.  When an out-of-stock condition is reached your customer is informed with a message that you set.  This message can inform them of the expected delivery date of new merchandise or that the out-of-stock condition is permanent.  A great feature for dealing with end-of-run merchandise.
Email announcement facility to customers.
  Through IntelliMerchant's facilities you can send email messages to customers announcing sales, new merchandise, or just to say ‘Hi. Remember us?’.  Emails are sent subject to the individual customer’s consent of course.

The customer selection mechanism provided with IntelliMerchant allows you to target particular customers with each message.  For example, you can select customers by geographic area, their account type, their most recent purchase date, and/or product purchased.

This is an incredibly powerful marketing tool.  You can send an email to customers who haven't purchased in a while asking them why they haven't ordered lately.  You can send an email to recent customers soliciting feedback on the quality of the product they received.  You can perform marketing test studies by sending different emails to different customers and seeing which generates the better response.  The feedback from your customers is quicker and more cost efficient than using the postal service.
